Chigusa: Alright, listeners. |
Peter: Are you an active learner or a passive learner? |
Chigusa: Do you even know? |
Peter: Here’s the difference. |
Chigusa: ‘Active learning’ means you’re actively engaging with learning material and focusing on it. |
Peter: For example, you’re reading in your target language... |
Chigusa: ...you’re looking up words, you’re translating ... |
Peter: ...you’re memorizing phrases or you’re speaking out loud. |
Chigusa: So, you’re focused on what you’re learning and you’re really into it. |
Peter: Exactly. Now, passive learning is different. It requires less concentration. |
Chigusa: And, it’s usually done when you’re doing something else... |
Peter: ...for example, doing chores, driving to work or taking the train. |
Chigusa: You could be listening to an audio lesson or watching a video lesson... |
Peter: But, the difference is, you’re not focused on picking apart every word. |
Chigusa: You’re just passively taking the language in. |
Peter: Chigusa, what about you? How do you learn? |
Chigusa: Hmm, I... listen to music? |
Peter: So, that makes you a passive learner? And listeners, how do you learn? |
Chigusa: Are you actively engaged or do you passively learn on the go? Or do you mix it up? |
Peter: Let us know in the comments. Now, here’s how you can learn both ways... |
Chigusa: ...with our lessons. |
Peter: If you’re a passive learner, say you’re always on the go: |
Chigusa:...then here are 4 simple tactics you can apply right now. |
Peter: One: Press play on a lesson and just listen...or watch. |
Chigusa: Just like you would, with YouTube. |
Peter: It’s as simple as that. So, if you’re at home, with your computer on... |
Chigusa: ...press play on a lesson and take it in. |
Peter: Two: Now, if you’re outside, if you’re going to the store, or commuting... |
Chigusa: You can learn with our FREE Innovative Language 101 App... |
Peter: ...for the Android, iPhone and iPad. Again, open a lesson, press play and that’s it. |
Chigusa: Three: If you want to passively review words and phrases.... |
Peter: ...then check out the Vocabulary Slideshow tool. |
Chigusa: This Premium study tool is available on every lesson and Vocab List. Just press play... |
Peter: ...and with every slide, you get the word... |
Chigusa: ...the audio pronunciation, the translation, and sample sentences. |
Peter: You can even put the slideshow on loop and immerse yourself that way. |
Chigusa: ...and Four: If you have an Amazon Echo device... |
Peter: ...then you can immerse yourself with daily audio lessons... |
Chigusa: ...or you can learn with the quick word of the day |
Peter: You can just play a lesson and keep it in the background while you’re at home. |
Chigusa: Just look for Daily Dose by Innovative Language on the Amazon Skill Store. |
Peter: ...and download it for free |
Chigusa: Now, if you’re an active learner, if you have some time to concentrate... |
Peter: Here are 5 tactics you can use right now. |
Chigusa: Number 1 - Listen or watch a lesson and... read along with the translations. |
Peter: You get complete translations in the lesson notes and the line-by-line dialogue. |
Chigusa: This will make your reading and listening skills skyrocket. |
Peter: The best part is, you’ll understand every single word. The translations are right in front of you. |
Chigusa: Number 2 - Repeat the lesson dialogue as you hear it. |
Peter: This is called shadowing and it will boost your speaking skills... guaranteed. |
Chigusa: Just repeat the lines that you hear until you can speak with confidence. |
Peter: To make it even easier, you also get the lines in the dialogue study tool... |
Chigusa: ...and in the lesson notes... |
Peter: ...so you can read them out loud as you hear them in the lesson. |
Chigusa: Number 3 - Record yourself with our voice recorder in the dialogue study tool... |
Peter: ...to perfect your pronunciation and see how close you are to a native speaker. |
Chigusa: Number 4 - If you want to boost your vocabulary... |
Peter: ..study words with our smart flashcards. |
Chigusa: They sort the words for you. So, you get the harder words more often.... |
Peter: ...until you master them. And the easy ones show up now and then to refresh your memory. |
Chigusa: And Number 5 – Ask questions and practice! Leave a comment in the comment section. |
Peter: If you’re a Premium PLUS user, you get your very own teacher... |
Chigusa: ...and you can ask them to review and correct your writing and speaking... |
Peter: You can also ask for learning advice and get all of your questions answered. |
Chigusa: Okay Peter, both are great ways to learn... but which one is best? |
Peter: Well...that depends on you. |
Chigusa: So, if you have some quiet time to focus, active learning is best. |
Peter: Exactly. But, If you’re on the train and you’re multi-tasking... |
Chigusa: ...then passive learning is the better option. |
Peter: Listeners, whichever your style is... |
Chigusa: ...you can apply both with our language learning program. |
Peter: And… |
Chigusa: If you want a quick 20% discount on our complete language learning program... |
Peter: ...that’s hundreds of audio and video lessons by real teachers... |
Chigusa: ...that get you speaking, reading and writing from Beginner to Advanced... |

Chigusa: ...and study tools that perfect your reading, pronunciation and teach you twice as fast... |

Active way trying to learn fast
I’m improving my English while studying German. I should say more active on German and passive on English. In both cases I am going further! Thanks :-) Maria
