Lesson Transcript

Hallo! Ich bin Laura. Hi everybody! I’m Laura.
Welcome to GermanPod101.com’s "Deutsch in 3 Minuten". The fastest, easiest, and most fun way to learn German.
In the last lesson, we learned some words used when apologizing in German, including Entschuldigung and es tut mir leid. In this lesson we are going to learn numbers in German.
Yes, numbers! Zahlen! From one to ten. And you are going to learn them in only three minutes, drei Minuten!
Are you ready? Let’s start!
Eins.
[slowly] eins.
Zwei.
[slowly] zwei.
Drei.
[slowly] drei.
Vier.
[slowly] vier.
Fünf.
[slowly] fünf.
Sechs.

Acht.
[slowly] acht.
Neun.

Okay, now repeat after me. I'll say the numbers and give you time to repeat each one.

Great job!
Do You know what comes before eins? Right, it's Null.
[slowly] null.
You don’t have any more excuses! You can now give your friends your cell phone number in German!
Let’s try together.
We’ll use the phrase Meine Nummer ist, which means "my number is:"
[slowly] Meine Nummer ist.
Meine Nummer ist
null drei null vier eins zwei zwei fünf neun sechs acht
Can you read it by yourself?

Perfect!
Now it’s time Laura’s Insights.
When we go to the office or department store in Germany , we sometimes have to stand in line with a number. When it's your turn to check out, they scream Nummer eins!! Nummer zehn! and so on. Learn your numbers well so you can be ready!
Do you know the German word for a hundred? It's actually very similar to the English word! In the next lesson we are going to learn the numbers from ten to one hundred in German. Your task now is to practice the numbers we studied in this lesson, from eins to zehn!!
Bis bald!

Hello Akiko,

Thank you very much for your question!:thumbsup:

In German "eins" cannot be used as an prefix for words like "book". It should be "ein" or "eine", depending on the case. For example "ein Buch" or "eine Schere" (a scissors). I hope this helps.

Please us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Albert

Hallo!

Can "eins" be use as "a/an" in German, like "a book"?

Danke.
