Eric: First is a word meaning 'how'

Eric: Next is the word meaning 'much'

Eric: Next is the word meaning 'to cost'

Albert: A quicker way to ask “How much?” is Was kostet das? Which literally means “How much does it cost?” Even when you ask for a beer at the counter of a bar, you can ask the cashier Was kostet ein Bier? meaning “How much does a beer cost?”
