Hey listeners! What was the first German phrase you learned? And which one of these were you the most surprised by? Let us know in German!
Hello Arber, hello Amerikanerin,
Thank you very much for commenting and sharing your stories 😄!
@ Arber: Thank you for the kind feedback!
@ Amerikanerin: That’s a funny German word she taught you. “Den (inneren) Schweinehund überwinden” is a common phrase in German meaning that someone is overcoming his laziness after some inner struggle and is finally tackling his tasks.
The first words I learned were in the ‚80’s, from a German girl that attended my school in America. She taught me to say, „Du bist ein Schweinehund“. I always thought she was pulling my leg and have used Schweinehund since then, thinking her invented, „Pig-Dog“ was funny. Imagine my surprise when I began learning German Autumn 2017 and found out the word was not only real, but referred to your inner, lazy self.
my first phrase was Sprechen Sie Engish
it has been very helpful . I have been learning Deutch for 2 years now
and i currently work in a call center in German . Best site ever (helped me a lot )
Thank you for your comment!
