danke für deinen Kommentar. If you say I love birds in German it is as follows "Ich liebe Vögel" without any article used as it is a statement, meaning birds in general, neither a specific one (der, die, das) nor an unspecified one (ein, eine). Other examples are: Ich liebe Hunde. Ich mag Kleider, etc.
