Hey listeners! Can you come up with a sentence using these words?

Hi Geoffrey,

Thank you for your question.

If you refer to the English translation "The sun IS setting", then

please remember that "is" in this case is a form of "to be" which is part of the

present continuous tense. "is setting" in the above sentence is the translation of "geht unter".

"Die Sonne geht unter" is a standing phrase in German.

If you wanted to be very very precise, you could say "Die Sonne geht gerade unter"

to more accurately describe the fact that it is setting right now (present continuous).

Thank you.

Hi Joe,

To protect from cold wind and possibly rain is certainly one reason

for the cover. Another one might be to avoid a sunburn.

Thank you.

Hi Joe,

You did your homework. Well done! 😉

Let me make just a few tiny little suggestions:

Sieh mal: Ein Strand von Palmen gesäumt, Musik in der Luft, einige Schwimmer im Ozean, Kinder, die ernsten Sinnes Sandburgen bauen, und ihre Eltern, die auf Strandtüchern in der Sonne liegen, und, ebenso ernsten Sinnes, Bräune suchen.

Bildschön-geschminkte Frauen im Bikini, die nie ihre Wimpern nass werden lassen.

Thank you.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Kind regards,

Reinhard

Why in the example: Die Sonne geht unter, is "geht" used instead of "ist"? Danke Geoff Holland

One comment about Strandkorbe: could they be covered because a sudden gust of (mostly cold) wind might rise in that part of Europe? Ein Schutz von einem Fallwind?

[I used the accustive, since the list follows "Sieh mal". But I'm of two minds ].
