Thanks for the comment. Actually, both expressions are possible. In the case showed in the video, "Das Mรคdchen lรคuft auf die StraรŸe" marks the act that it walked from another way, probably on the sidewalk onto the street (suddenly). While your sentence means that the girl is walking on the street already or the whole time. I hope it is clear to you now.
