Learn German with GermanPod101.com! You are in Germany trying to tour the chancellor’s building. You realize that the building looks in good shape so you ask the tour guide when it was built. He replies in German, “It was started in 1997.” Calculating the year difference, you realize it was not that long ago. You ask your tour guide, “Do you know who had appropriated funds?” He is not sure of what you mean, so you continue in German, “Well, on the way here, we hit two pot holes and ran a stop sign because it was not visible. Obviously the German government has money to spend.” He realizes that you are referring to what a nice building the chancellor’s building is and how much money it must have cost, so why haven’t the street conditions been kept up with. The tour guide replies in German, “The German government has started to decide where the German funds go for this year already, but you could always put in a complaint for next year.” You might just do that, but you won’t be here next year…or maybe you will.
