In walks your German professor, with a smile on her face and a gleam in her eye, ready to start the day! As she lectures in German, you comment in German each time she passes your desk and your eyes meet. You hang on every German word she says, secretly praying for class to end. At the conclusion of class, your German professor pulls you aside and tells you in German that she noticed you enjoyed the lesson. “Of course!” you tell her in German, what’s not to like with such fantastically interesting material?

Learn German with GermanPod101.com! You are in Germany with a group of friends that have toured Germany before and are more fluent than you are in the German language. You find this to your advantage because your German is a little rusty and you don’t want to get caught saying the wrong thing in German. As you and your friends are enjoying a little bit of the German nightlife, you are explaining in German to some new German acquaintances that you are from an island off the coast of America when they crack up laughing. You can already tell that you have done it again and messed up your German. Your friends explain to you in German that your pronunciation of the German word “island” came out wrong, so you actually said in German, “I came here from a hedgehog in America.” Your new German acquaintances find you quite amusing and begin asking you questions to see what your German reply will be. They, along with your friends, begin helping you with your German by pronouncing German vowels correctly. By the end of the night, you have managed to speak well in German and tell your new German acquaintances, “You are all great teachers. Thanks for the help.” At least that’s what you thought you said!
