The only problem is, since your hotel is in the middle the German city of Berlin, you may enjoy the ice cream, but your view will not be as pleasant as at the Reichstag. Sitting at a table outside of the German ice cream parlor, a girl approaches you and asks you in German, “What kinds of ice cream did you get?” As you look up at the girl that spoke to you, you realize that your view of the city just got a whole lot better. You ask her to join you and then begin a German conversation with her. Who knows…maybe you’ll get together again for more German ice cream.

You can already tell that you have done it again and messed up your German. Your friends explain to you in German that your pronunciation of the German word “island” came out wrong, so you actually said in German, “I came here from a hedgehog in America.” Your new German acquaintances find you quite amusing and begin asking you questions to see what your German reply will be. They, along with your friends, begin helping you with your German by pronouncing German vowels correctly. By the end of the night, you have managed to speak well in German and tell your new German acquaintances, “You are all great teachers. Thanks for the help.” At least that’s what you thought you said!
