Learn German with GermanPod101.com! You are in Germany on a business trip but have several friends that live there as well. After work one evening, you call one of your German friends to go out and have a drink. When you call him, you say in German, “You owe me a drink. Where do you want to meet up?” You set up the place that you want to meet at and begin to head there. As you arrive at the bar, you realize you are the first one to arrive. While waiting for your friend to show up, the bartender asks you what you would like to drink. You look a little distraught and ask in German, “What’s the house special?” The bartender gives you two choices, both you have never heard of. You are not sure what to get or what your friend will order. You tell the bartender that you will just wait until your friend arrives. When your friend arrives, you ask him in German, “What are you going to drink?” He smiles and orders for the both of you. Not knowing what to expect, and half-expecting your friend to play a joke on you since he’s buying, you are not quite surprised when the bartender hands you a green drink. Your friend seems to enjoy his drink so you try it yourself. Even if it is a joke, you need to show that you are not afraid of your German friend’s challenge. It’s a little odd at first, but deciding it’s not half-bad, you finish your drink and order another one, considering he’s buying, while talking about your hectic day at work.

Ja, ich werde alles einmal probieren. Es gibt hier kein Bier mit Sirup, aber es klingt gut.

mmh Waldmeister. lecker.

You also can say “Ich tue noch einen Schuss Milch in meinen Kaffee” Schuss simply means a little bit of liquid. Just like you can say eine Priese Salz you can say einen Schuss Milch.
