If you don’t want to starve in Germany, you better know how to get around in a supermarket… and seeing that most of the German brands and some of the foods will be unfamiliar to you, you should also know how to get the cooperation of a salesperson. That however can be tricky, even for a native German. Let’s see how Maria fares in the Servicewüste Deutschland (service desert Germany). Learn modern authentic German with GermanPod101’s beginner series!

How are salespeople in your country? Are they always friendly and helpful? Do they get paid a commission?

In die Vokabeln, nachte zu „fehlen“, es sagt „weak verb“. Was ist ein Schwachverb? (sorry this is probably a literal translation!)

Danke

Weak verbs are the ones that don’t ever change their vowel. This is especially important for the Präteritum past tense, because “strong verbs” (a euphemism for a class of irregular but not-too-irregular verbs) form the past tense by changing their vowel, whereas weak verbs just add -te.

So the weak is stromg. It hangs on to its form. And the strong weak as it gives in and changes!

The strong verbs refuse to give up their individuality! ;-)

Hello,

I need you help. Somehow, my iTunes reject to cooperate when it comes to login form with germanpod101.com. It repeats the form as if the pass or username is wrong. I’ve even tried to change password and then to type the new one in iTunes. It still doesn’t work :???:
Do you have any suggestion? I’m frequently out of the office, and then I want to have my podcasts with me (especially if trip takes too much time  )

Thanks in advance!
And good luck with preparing future lessons, as those present are just perfect!!
