Paying per EC card is pretty common these days and if you try to pay with a 200 Euro bill in a small boutique, the salesperson is likely to look like he or she has a sour tooth and wine a little if you really can't pay with a smaller bill. Or try your luck in the backery. Paying with anything above a 5 Euro bill is almost suicidal. Try paying with a 50 Euro bill and you will leave the shop headless...
