Don’t be surprised if a German speaker answers “yes” to “Sprechen Sie Französisch?” Germany shares a border with France, and many Germans speak it. What other language might get an affirmative answer in Germany? Do you have any experience with multilingual Germans? Let us know!

Spanish is “Spanisch” in German. Hard, isn’t it? A lot of languages that end in -ish in English will simply end in -isch in German. And almost all languages that end in -ese in English will end in -esisch in German. Yay for language families!
