What are your thoughts on language-learning? Which languages do you speak? Do you have any tips? These would also be great to collect in a forum thread, for future users of GermanPod101.com .
die Sprachen sind sehr wichtig! ![]()

Ich will auch anderen Sprachen studiere.
hi!
i enjoyed this one, really did
i’m not sure if you did this, but i didn’t find the equivalent for Can you speak…
again thanks a lot for your useful lessons!
Jaqueline, here’s the correction:
… Ich studiere auch Koreanisch, Japanisch, Chinesisch und Deutsch (verb has to be second thing in a sentence)
Ich will auch andere* Sprachen studieren*. (infinitive after a modal verb)
Hamid, I’m glad you enjoyed the lesson. For “Can you speak… ?” we simply say “Sprichst du …?” / “Sprechen Sie …?”, that’s much more common than the literal equivalent “Kannst du … sprechen?” / “Können Sie … sprechen?”. You also hear “Kannst du …?”, with the “sprechen” implied.
ich spreche englishe und klein Japanisch. Ich studiere japanich und deutsch.
Danke for the great lesson!
Ich spreche Englisch und Gibberisch. Ich lerne Deutsch und Doppeldeutsch.
“Gibberisch” doesn’t exist in German, we say “Kauderwelsch”.
